Celebrities - Just like US?

The totally inconspicuous Michelle Obama (do you sense my sarcasm?) shopping at Target in Alexandria, VA.

Wonder if she was in on the ridiculous Missoni for Target craze??

Happy Weekend everybody!

On Repeat

Morning Joe got it right this morning by playing Coldplay - because its definitely a Coldplay kind of day..
(But then again, when isn't it a good day to listen to my favorite band?)

Will you be my neighbor?

How appropriate is it that yesterday was National Elephant Appreciation day, because today I'm not feeling very appreciative of the "Elephant" that lives upstairs.
{via}

A and I have an upstairs neighbor that is just plain LOUD but this mornings antics take the cake!
At 4:30am we heard a very loud noise that woke both of us up. Since our liquor cabinet crashed earlier this year, I think we both are more sensitive to loud noises that occur during the night. Anyways, we heard this loud bang upstairs and both agreed that our neighbor must have dropped something (I swear shes an insomniac), and tried to go back to sleep.
Well, not 2 minutes later - she starts running the vacuum...at 4:30am...in the room right above us!!
Ridiculous doesn't even begin to describe it!

But even my annoyance at my neighbor can't deter my good mood and excitement for this weekend!

Why?

Because on Saturday, A and I are heading to Charlottesville to go to the UVA/Southern Miss football game with this cute couple:
MZ & D {photo completely stolen from FB...oops!}

MZ is my best friend, whom I met while living in Roanoke. I can't wait to see her!

Cheers to the weekend! It's Friday!

I'm addicted..

to Foodgawker.com.

Seriously.

....it has become a problem.

Why focus on work when you can find any recipe to anything you want - all the while looking at some of the most delicious pictures?

Case in point:
Snickerdoodle Cupcakes

Early Fall Ratatouille

Bananas Foster French Toast

Slow-Baked Mac and Cheese

Italian Tomato and Mozzarella Crostini

Caramel Apple Cake

Chipotle Turkey Burger

I might have just loosened my belt after looking at those pictures...

But even with the increased appetite, angry bank account and weight gain - I can't stop looking at this site.

Its official...I'm a FoodGawker addict. And most likely, after you read this blog post - you are too!
(Sorry, I'm not sorry??)

Comfort soup

I spotted this recipe last week on Megan's blog, Fried Green Pickles and decided to make it for A last night...Let me tell you - so delicious!

It was super easy to make and a perfect comfort food after a long, exhausting weekend.

Greek Lemon Chicken Soup
{Recipe and Picture via Real Simple}
Serves 4Hands-On Time: 15m Total Time: 30m

Ingredients

Directions

  1. In a large saucepan, bring the chicken broth to a boil. Add the orzo and boil until tender, 8 to 9 minutes. In a bowl, beat the egg yolks. Slowly whisk in 1 cup of the hot broth.
  2. Add the egg mixture to the saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring, until thickened, 5 to 7 minutes. Add the chicken and lemon juice; season with ¼ teaspoon pepper.

Best part about it? It was only 260 calories per serving!

Enjoy!

Love is

I had a great (but quick) trip to Ohio...but after a 10-11 hr drive, I'm exhausted. Looks like I'll be going to bed early early tonight!

I found this old comic strip, "Love Is..." a while ago, but figured now would be a good time to share.
This weekend I was reminded of how lucky I am - being surrounded by so much love from family members and also realizing how much I missed my love, A who was back home in Richmond.

{all images via}

"Kim Casali created "Love Is..." back in the late 1960's when she drew the little pictures as love notes for her husband-to-be, Roberto, reveals Tribune Media Services, which hosts the long-running cartoon. Her illustrations were then revealed to the rest of the world when they were first syndicated in 1970."

So cute!

Hope you all had a relaxing weekend!

Umm....what?

Yesterday, one of the headlines that caught my attention on Gawker was:

Disappearances: Michaele Salahi is Missing!!

UMM...WHAT?
The crazy lady who crashed the White House State dinner?

{via}

The same seemingly cracked out Real Housewife of DC?

{via}

I immediately forwarded the article to my other Hollywood gossip-loving coworker and we both came to the conclusion that it all had to be a publicity stunt (she did mention how terrible she would feel if indeed something bad did happen to Michaele)...
But lets be real here - when was the last time the Salahi's did anything with out it being a publicity stunt?

Just a few examples:
Like the time she accused Whoopi Goldberg of "abuse" because she touched her on the shoulder and asked her to talk about the White House incident?
Or the fact that she lied about being a Washington Redskins cheerleader and Miss USA?
Posing for Playboy?

Come to find out this morning - she wasn't kidnapped, but "ran away" with Journey's guitarist, Neil Schon??

{via}

Umm...what???

Such a ridiculous story and couple...I'll be curious to see what the Salahi's do next.

T-15 minutes of fame and counting!

I. NEED.

I'm in lust...

{via}

When I used to sell shoes, I would tell my customers " just think..a dollar a day" to make a sale...but with a $495 price tag - I don't think I could even sell these to myself!

A girl can dream though, right?

When do Fall/Winter boots go on sale again?

Stay-cation

Is it me or has this felt like the longest week?

A and I have decided to have a "Stay-cation" to celebrate the Day of Labor.
I have to tell you - I'm not missing the idea of packing and sitting in the car for most of the day, instead I'm looking forward to celebrating a good girlfriend's birthday on Saturday night and doing things I've always wanted to do/see around Richmond.

Leaving you with my new favorite song...enjoy!

Hope you all have a lovely extra-long weekend!

These are my confessions...

Happy September!

Why not start off a new month with a confession about myself?

Sound good? Ok...

Confession: I love jewelry. In fact, I miiiight be a jewelry hoarder.

I have earrings, necklaces, braclets, and rings in every travel bag and jewelry box I own. Some of it is random pieces I've picked up, but a lot of my jewelry is from a company called, Dolma Pearls.

I wear my Dolma pearl earrings almost every day to work, but this company does a lot more than just earrings.

Dolma's "Long Page" Necklace
8 strands of button and rice pearls strung on silk. 65” in length.

My twin sister Sally (mentioned here, here, and here) went to school with the owner, Ashley, was one of the first "pearl experts," and even had a necklace named after her (Rightfully named the "Sally O'Malley")!

Sally sporting the O'Malley in Thailand:

Sal, in the middle, wearing the "Rain" necklace:

In Dolma "Rhett" earrings and "Long Page" necklace:

Since Ashley started up the company, I have acquired many awesome pieces that I get compliments on almost every time I wear them. Truthfully, out of my large jewelry collection, the Dolma pieces are my favorite necklaces/rings/earrings I own.

Estancia necklace - Perfect for Fall!

Ashley and her sister, Shannon go to China and design all the jewelry themselves (see their blog here), so they  always have new items to show and sell. Best of all, since they are constantly creating new designs, they have the most amazing sales!

Hello, gorgeous...

By no means have they asked me to write this post, and who knows - they may never know I did this.. I just wanted to share the great stuff they sell!

Check them out - you won't be sorry!
