Wishing for September 7th.

Do you remember this post? (Thanks for nothing, SALLY!)

Well - on September 7th, 2011, history will be made!!
Zara (finally) opens its e-commerce site up to the United States!
Best. Day. EVER.

The only one complaining that day will be my wallet, and possibly A when he finds out that I spend my rent money on clothing!
Oops.

Fall is right around the corner...will you be shopping online at Zara?

On my list:

T-8 days!

"Hurricane preparedness"

I better not see one of these swimming down my street after Hurricane Irene hits the area:

Is this real life?

I am tired. As in dog-tired and brain-not-functioning tired.

{via Pintrest}

After a world wind trip to Ohio and back (in less than 24 hours) - I am just in a mood. Not a good mood, not a bad mood. Just in a mood...do you ever get like that?

But you know what helps get me through the day? A few things actually:

1. Seeing this on desk:

And this posted in my office first thing this morning:

....I love my coworkers!!!!

2. A large vanilla latte - lucky my building has a Starbucks, don't know how I would be functioning this morning without it.

3. My wonderfully sweet boyfriend who picked me up at the airport last night at 12:30am, took me to work this morning, and told me he loved me even when I was in my "mood." Not to gush, but he really is the best.

But MOST importantly...

4. The Lilly Pulitzer Sale!

I took advantage of this Tuesday afternoon (pre-earthquake and flight to Ohio). And even though my bank account took quite a hit - it is most certainly worth it. Can't wait to welcome my new purchases to my closet!
The sale ends tonight at midnight - hurry over to Lilly Pulitzer and buy something pretty if you haven't already.

Its almost Friday!

I've said it once..

and I'll say it again....

Martha Stewart is a genius!

While perusing the internet yesterday, I found Martha's take on Cinco de Mayo and just had. to. make. it.
2 out of 2 people agreed last night (A and myself), the dinner was a success!

Chicken Enchiladas with Creamy Green Sauce

I found a Salsa Verde at Kroger that had Jalapenos in it and I think my heart stopped. It gave this recipe the "kick" it needed and I didn't even have to put Tabasco on it (which is what I usually ALWAYS do to my food). I was in foodie paradise!

Black Beans with Lime

All that was missing were the Margaritas

Enjoy!

Reading Rainbow

I've been on quite a reading kick lately.
While on vacation with A's family, I managed to read 5 books - that was about 1 book a day!
On the day we left, I took A's mothers advice and downloaded Cloud Nine by Luanne Rice to my Ipad/Kindle for the drive home.
{photo via}

I won't give away the whole plot, but it was an easy read with a large and inspiring story. I would highly recommend anyone in need of a good read to pick up(or download) this book!

A word to the wise when reading it - keep a box of Kleenex close by! You might need it!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

Turtle Time

Hoping to take a "late lunch" to see this lady:

Real Housewives of New York - Ramona Singer!

Ramona is making an appearance at a local Kroger to debut her Pino Grigio -  named "Ramona"...go figure!

I'll be the first one to admit, I love every single Housewives show on Bravo. You've got to appreciate Ramona's crazy eyes, affinity for wine, and "turtle time" dance moves:

Guilty!!

(Once again, if you haven't read about my DC "experience" go here, and here).

Late last night, I got news on my court case. Both men have plead Guilty, which means that there will be no trial! Hurray! It feels good to finally have some sort of closure in this. These men are off the street for a very long time, and I couldn't be happier knowing that.

I was told that I am going to receive something in the mail that I will need to fill out for the Judge determining the sentencing to read beforehand. They want to know my thoughts on what I'd like to see in the sentencing and also how this incident has impacted my life. I really feel like this played a huge roll in my life since it occurred. I appreciate everything and everyone I have in my life now, not that I didn't before - but I am now more focused on being outwardly thankful and I try to make it shown, verbally and physically, how much I care for the one's I love.

..but with the positive, also comes the negative..

I am definitely more paranoid about my safety and more distrusting about strangers than I ever have been before. For example, I was taking an afternoon walk with a dear friend a few weeks ago and I heard running behind me. The noise of quick feet on pavement really scared me - as that is what I heard right before I saw the man with the gun in DC. It brought back a horrible moment and it took me a really long time for my heart to stop racing and my anxiety level to go down. I have found in the past few months, this has been happening frequently. Just the little things cause me great anxiety.

I'm feeling really thankful in a lot of ways regarding this case. Thankful for the cops who caught the men and got them off the street, thankful for the Judge allowing me to share my story and thankful for my friends, family and coworkers who have helped me through these past few months.
With time, I know I will get past this.

Just wanted to share the good news!

Happy Tuesday to you all!

Back to the grind

Back to work on this sunny Monday morning...brain is complete mush...

Just day dreaming on where I was this time last week...

Can't. Focus.

And since I can't focus, what am I doing?? Blogging. Go figure!

I digress.

Had the best week off. Got some serious sun, caught a few fish, read a lot of books, had amazing dinners (doesn't hurt to have fresh seafood right outside your door) and got to spend time with A's loving and fun family.

This weekend, A and I got inspired by our past few weeks and decided to make the best. lunch. EVER.
We made fried green tomato sandwiches (inspired by the Greenbrier Classic golf tournament) with goat cheese, bacon and arugula.
{photo via}

Peach Sweet Tea (from a week spent in the South)
{via}

and fresh Peaches and Cream (my absolute favorite as a kid when eating at the Main Dining Room at the Greenbrier Hotel).

I now have a new found respect for homemade whipped cream - my arm still hurts from whisking!

Off to get some coffee to hopefully jump start my brain cells!

Hope you have a wonderful Monday!

MIA

I've gone a little MIA from blogging, and I must apologize to you all.

Work has just been so crazy!

Here are some {illegal} photos A took while we were enjoying the Greenbrier last weekend:

3-way playoff for the win - Holes #17 &18

Naturally, when you go to a golf tournament in West VA - this is what you see....WVU color camo

John "crazy-pants" Daly smoking on the course

Kenny Perry...Oh, sooo classy...right, A?

Bill Haas...one of the top 3 during the tournament

 Miranda Lambert

My love

Annnnnnd, I'm about to go MIA again.
I'm heading for a weeks vacation to Oriental, NC - don't know much about it, other than it being the "Sailing Capital of NC."

Looking forward to doing nothing after this crazy week!

Happy Friday!

Simple acts of Kindness

Its the little things in life that mean the most...

Like on a morning when I didn't have any coffee in my house, a coworker unexpectedly surprised me with a Vanilla Latte from Starbucks (thank you, KD)!

Hope you all have a wonderful Tuesday!
